US –based video game publisher Electronic Arts (EA) has reported a 51% rise in profits from April to June, boosted by a strong performance by key titles such as Titanfall and FIFA 2014. The new generation of gaming consoles also boosted the firm to $335 million (£196 million) in net profit for the period, up from $222m a year ago.

The group also saw success from its mobile gaming division, which increased revenue by 18% in the period, up 39% on last year.

"We continue to view mobile as a business with tremendous opportunity as the market is experiencing significant global growth in smartphones and tablets," Blake Jorgensen, chief financial officer of the firm said.
