Luxury car manufacturer Aston Martin has reported that it is to widen its range of cars to attract more female customers as well as younger drivers.

The company said that it has a few ideas in the pipeline including new sports cars, a small SUV and a four-seater following a drop in sales to roughly 4,000 from 7,300 in less than 10 years.

Andy Palmer chief executive commented "The brand has to be relevant," adding "Aston Martin must be less dependent on a narrow portfolio and one type of customer."

The company, which has been in business for 102 years, plans to bring sales back up to around 7,000 and recently unveiled its new car, the first all-electric DBX named “Charlotte”.

Aston Martin also unveiled its Vulcan car in Geneva, a racetrack-only car which will cost over £1.5 million, of which only 24 have been made.
