Top supermarket chain Waitrose has announced that it is to open a small branch in London’s South Bank district in July 2016 in the new multi-million pound development.

The multi-million pound development that is run by CIT, private equity real estate business and Jadwa Investment will feature 36,000 sq ft of retail space, approximately 200 new luxury apartments and 220,000 sq ft of offices.

Nigel Keen, director of development for Waitrose said: “The much sought after South Bank Central provides yet another exciting platform in making the little Waitrose brand increasingly visible to the capital’s shoppers.

“South Bank is a fast emerging part of London that is becoming increasingly attractive to retail and office occupiers, which are drawn by the unique nature of the area and the already established residential population.”

Hiring for the new store will begin in spring 2016 and it is expected to create more than 40 jobs.
