Retail Trust held its first live "Search for a Star" auditions last weekend at Xscape Milton Keynes and Brighton Marina.
The Retail Trust Search For A Star is a campaign to find the most popular acts in retail, looking for singers, dancers, comedians and other variety acts.
On Saturday 31st October celebrity judges Antony Costa from Blue and Ex-Atomic Kitten Liz McClarnon were at the auditions in Milton Keynes.
Liz McClarnon commented she was "genuinely surprised that some of the acts haven't been snapped up by labels already".
On Sunday 1st November So Solid's Lisa Maffia and The X Factor finalists Same Difference judged the talent at Brighton Marina. Same Difference said: "Not only did the contestants give everyone a great show to watch, but Retail Trust may have found a few stars in the making".
Retail Trust's CEO Nigel Rothband was at both locations and he watched retailers such as Peacocks, M&S, River Island, New Look, Austin Reed, House of Fraser (to name just a selection), battle it out to the next round. There were a mixture of singers, comedy acts and dancers trying to impress the CEO and judges.
The road show will next be visiting Xscape Braehead on Saturday 7th November and Xscape Castleford on Sunday 8th November before finishing at London O2 Centre Finchley Road, on Saturday 14th November for the final live stage of the search. Following the final audition in London, the judges will decide on the Top 50 acts and these can be viewed online from 20th November at www.retailtrustsearchforastar.com and people can vote for their favourites by text.
The top four acts with the most text votes will perform in front of 1,100 major retailers, including Sir Philip Green, Sir Stuart Rose and Theo Paphitis at the prestigious Retail Trust London Ball at Grosvenor House on 25th January 2010. The four finalists will also receive A-list celebrity treatment and the overall winner will have a chance to be taken on the books of one of the world's most successful entertainment agencies CAA, which works with The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent's finalists, and win a trip to Monaco courtesy of BAA City Flyer and Novotel.
