Former M&S India boss to join rival Hypercity

Mark Ashman, who was instrumental in establishing M&S's Indian joint venture with Reliance Retail, is to join Hypercity as chief executive. Hypercity is an Indian chain that signed an exclusive supply agreement with Waitrose in 2006 to stock its products.
Marks & Spencer operates 18 stores across India and plans to open 15 more in the next two years. M&S said that is will have 50 outlets by 2015.
Hypercity operates seven giant hypermarkets in India and is partly owned by Shoppers Stop.
