Scotland has continued to see a decline in retail, with sales falling by 0.5% against the same month in 2016. The figures from the SRC-KPMG sales monitor, which showed non-food sales declined by 4.2% compared to June 2016, were described by the Scottish Retail Consortium as “disappointing”. The figures also showed that food sales grew by 4.2% compared to June 2016, when they had increased by 0.1%. This meant that the twelve-month average is up to 1.5%, representing the fastest growth rate since April 2014.
