Kitchenware retailer Lakeland has announced that it will be opening 12 shop-in-shops in Australia before it launches standalone stores in early 2017.

In conjunction with Australian retail chain The Good Guys, Lakeland will start trading from October. The retailer already operates in Germany, the Middle East and India.

Sam Rayner, outgoing managing director said: there was “tremendous opportunity” for the brand in Australia, especially since it aligned “perfectly with Australia’s foodie culture and passion for cooking and baking”.

The company joins other UK enterprises planning to expand in Australia such as department stores Debenhams and John Lewis.
