It has been reported that Sainsbury’s is to join forces with catalogue giant Argos and open concessions to use unwanted space in its supermarkets. Ten concessions will be opened originally to test the success of the scheme.

Sainsbury’s chief executive Mike Coupe said the Argos outlets would bring something “new and different” to its supermarkets.

“As well as looking at carefully selected partners, we continue to roll out our ranges of own brand clothing and general merchandise in our supermarkets to give customers even more choice and value.”

Customers can buy directly from the Argos concessions in the supermarket or simply order online to pick up their items at a later time.
