UK retailer Dixons Carphone has announced that it is to go into partnership with American telecoms company Sprint Corporation to possibly open around 20 stores in the US. The deal will see Dixon Carphone’s Connected World Services (CWS) division supply mobile phone retail advice and expertise to Spirit under whose name the stores will be marketed.

If all is successful, the second phase will take place where CWS will join Sprint to open up to 500 stores and it will invest around $32 million and acquire 50% interest.

Andrew Harrison, Dixons Carphone deputy group chief executive and CEO of the connected world services division said: “We are delighted to be working with Sprint and to be a part of a transformation in their business that is already making impressive headway. This is a very exciting venture for us, and is a significant step in growing our CWS business in the US. We bring specialist knowledge and skills to this partnership and will be looking to deliver innovation and outstanding customer service under the Sprint brand.”
