Extension for Hargreaves' Matalan offer

The deadline by which John Hargreaves has to declare whether or not he intends to make an offer for Matalan has been extended until midday 11 October 2006.
The panel executive had previously announced that the Matalan chairman had until midday 12th September 2006 to announce either a firm intention to make an offer or to decline making an offer.
In the event that Mr Hargreaves does not proceed with an offer for Matalan, he and anyone acting with him be forbidden from making a bid for the company for a period of six months.
