09 November 2006 09:38

John King, outgoing chief executive of Matalan, has been named chief executive of House of Fraser today after the resignation of predecessor John Coleman in the wake of the deal that has taken House of Fraser into private hands. The completion of the £351m (€523.4m) deal with Icelandic company Baugur also saw the resignation of David Adams, deputy chief executive and finance director; and Steve Hibbert, operations director. Footwear entrepreneur Don McCarthy, who made an estimated £135 million when he sold his own business, Shoe Studio, to Baugur last year, has been appointed executive chairman.
