Matalan founder quits

Matalan founder John Hargreaves has resigned as chairman less than 12 months after taking the business into private hands. Mr Hargreaves, who has resigned for personal reasons, founded the group in 1985 and took it private in a deal worth £817 million last December.
Mr Hargreaves’ long-term tax advisor John Mills will succeed him.
