ASOS has once again bucked the trend of falling sales and profits across the retail industry to report record results. In another year of strong trading, ending March 31st, the group saw sales grow 90% to £81.0 million, with a 117% rise in pre-tax profits.
In a statement, chief executive Nick Robertson said: "Whilst the macro economic conditions appear to be deteriorating, I believe we have, and will continue to benefit from the significant migration to online shopping, especially amongst our core customer base".
This success was reflected in the record number of unique visitors to the site; 3.4 million unique visitors in May, a 60% increase year on year.
In a statement, chairman of ASOS Lord Alli praised the "often superhuman" effort of the company's employees and added: "ASOS is now firmly established as the UK's premier online fashion business".
In current trading, sales for 13 weeks to June 27th were up 95%.
