New appointments to Blacks board

Blacks Leisure Group has announced the appointment of Nick Samuel and Andrew Mallett as non-executive directors of the company with immediate effect.
Nick Samuel was chief executive of Hobbs from 2001 to 2008 and remains as a non-executive director. Prior to his role at Hobbs he spent nine years as finance director at Karen Millen.
Andrew Mallett is currently an executive director of Aspire Oil Services and a non-executive director of Powerleague Group. Between 2004 and 2006 he was deputy chairman of ASCO, an international oil services group. He also has a history of undertaking turnaround and strategy work operating at board level in public and private companies in a range of sectors.
Blacks Leisure also announced that non-executive director Claude Littner had agreed to take on the new position of deputy chairman.
In addition, the company announced that non-executive director Clive Sherling has decided to leave the company.
David Bernstein, chairman of Blacks Leisure, said: "Nick and Andrew's achievements in fashion retail and turnaround situations respectively will add further depth to the Blacks Leisure senior team and I am delighted to welcome them to the board. I would also like to congratulate Claude on his appointment as deputy chairman. Finally, I would like to thank Clive for his efforts and valuable advice during his time at Blacks Leisure.
"These appointments, together with that of Marc Lombardo, our new finance director who started last week, and the recovery strategies which have already been put in place, provide a solid foundation to enable Blacks Leisure to successfully execute its turnaround plan."
