Matalan comes out of Christmas fighting

Matalan has said that its position as a value retailer has helped it to come out of the Christmas period as one of the best performing high street retailers.
The group, which owns 203 stores across the UK, said that like-for-like sales rose 5.9% in the five weeks to January 4th, in contrast to many other Christmas performances from fashion retailers. Meanwhile, like-for-like sales in the 13 weeks to January 4th also rose 3.4%.
