The supermarkets are launching a range of budget meals for couples celebrating Valentine's Day. Marks & Spencer is offering a £20 'Love In' deal, which includes a bottle of Cava or wine, a main course and starter, side dish and pudding for two plus a real red rose. Asda has an offer for the same price, but also includes a Valentine's card, a chemise from the George lingerie range, a box of chocolates and a plastic rose.
Tesco, which is selling a starter and main course, a side dish and dessert from its Finest range plus a bottle of wine or Prosecco for £9.
Speaking to The Sunday Telegraph, Tesco commercial director Richard Brasher said: "The Finest meal for two offer means customers can enjoy a special meal with a decent bottle of wine for a fraction of the cost of going out".
In other romantic developments, supermarkets are introducing French heart-shaped potatoes according to the Daily Mirror. The spuds can now be sold in Britain after an EU ruling banning the sale of misshapen fruit and veggies was abandoned last November.
