Ex-HBOS boss in running for Boots post

The ex head of HBOS, which came close to collapse last autumn, is in talks with Alliance Boots over a deal that would see him become the company's new chief executive.
Andy Hornby is said to be the favourite out of several candidates for the post, with a decision from the company expected shortly.
Mr Hornby, formerly of Asda, left HBOS after it was rescued by Lloyds TSB having reported losses of almost £11 billion. He is also a non-executive director of Home Retail Group, which owns Argos and Homebase.
A company spokesman said: "Alliance Boots confirms it is currently engaged in discussions with Andy Hornby, who is a leading candidate for the role.
"It hopes to complete the process shortly and a further announcement will be made at that time".
Alliance Boots was taken private in an £11.1 billion takeover in 2007 by executive chairman Stefano Pessina and US private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts. Mr Hornby will report to Mr Pessina if he lands the post.
