Primark poaches Matalan director

03 August 2010 10:06

Primark has poached Matalan's buying director John Lyttle, who will become chief operating officer at Primark, effectively the second in command to chief executive Paul Marchant, who was appointed a year ago. His appointment follows that of former Marks & Spencer director Julian Kilmartin as buying and merchandising director and Katherine Kirk, formerly at Gap, as ethical sourcing director last year.

"John Lyttle will have full responsibility for buying and sourcing across the UK and international buying operations.

"The appointment reiterates Primark's commitment to invest in the Primark and Penneys brands and to support expansion" said a spokeswoman for Primark.
