Designer outlet centre sees increase in first quarter sales

Designer outlet centre Gunwharf Quays has reported a 7.3% increase in first quarter overall sales compared to the same period last year.
Retail sales rose by 5.8%, with sales in bars and restaurants up 10.7%.
The Portsmouth based centre boasts over 95 discount outlets including Barbour, Gap, and Molton Brown.
Speaking to Retail Bulletin, centre director Peter Emery said: "Gunwharf Quays not only offers fantastic discounts from designer brand but provides an experience in which consumers can enjoy a whole day out.
"In today's economic climate people are looking for added value and Gunwharf Quays offers that and is a place where you can enjoy shopping, eating and entertainment all in one space.
" We are delighted with the first quarter results and with our new occupiers and are positive for a successful remainder of the year."
