Hamleys sees toy sales rise

Hamleys has seen toy sales rise in the first four months of its fiscal year and said it is "optimistic" about Christmas.
Revenue from stores open at least a year rose by 15% in the UK and Ireland, while comparable sales at franchises outside the two countries increased by 28% in the 17 weeks to July 23rd.
This compares to growth of 1% in the year to the end of March for the group.
In the UK and Ireland, comparable store sales rose soared by 14.5%, while like-for-like sales at overseas franchise stores jumped by 28%.
Pre-tax rose to £660,000 in the year to the end of March compared with £100,000 a year earlier and a loss in the previous five years.
