Four-store deal saves 440 TJ Hughes jobs

Around 440 jobs at failed department store chain TJ Hughes look to have been saved following the sales of four stores to rival homewares company Lewis's Home Retail (LHR).
Ernst & Young, administrators for TJ Hughes, sold its stores in Liverpool, Glasgow, Sheffield and Eastbourne to LHR, a company associated with the Benross homewares group.
Joint Administrator Tom Jack said: "We are delighted to have exchanged contracts on this deal, which saves 442 jobs and continues the TJ Hughes legacy in Liverpool, as well as in other locations across the UK."
TJ Hughes was one of the first victims of retail's 'summer of discontent', going into administration in June following a period of volatile trading.
