Sales at ASOS continue to shine

19 January 2012 10:13

ASOS has reported an impressive rise in year-on-year sales in the third quarter, defying the economic slowdown, and said that it was confident that full-year figures would be in-line with expectations. In a trading statement covering the three months to the end of December, the online fashion retailer saw a 46% leap in year-on-year retail sales, driven by a 10% rise in the UK and a 93% rise in its international division.

Nick Robertson, CEO, commented: "I am pleased to report a strong third quarter performance across all territories including the UK. Overall retail sales were 46% up year on year and our retail gross margin was 300bps higher over the period, in line with guidance.

"With the business continuing to perform well through these challenging economic times, we remain confident about the outlook and expect our full year results to be in line with market expectations."
