Axi has introduced a new integration that allows eligible clients to connect their MetaTrader 5 (MT5) accounts directly to Claude, the AI assistant developed by Anthropic.
The connection uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard designed to let AI systems securely access and interact with external platforms.
Through the integration, traders can use natural language to monitor live market prices, open and manage positions, place pending orders, and adjust stop-loss and take-profit levels.
Axi said that all trade-related actions still require the user's approval before they are carried out. The company also stated that Claude is not a financial adviser and that traders remain responsible for their own decisions and risk management.
The solution is currently in alpha testing and is available through Claude's free plan. This may make it easier for traders to explore AI-assisted trading tools.
The launch reflects a wider move across the industry to build AI directly into trading technology. MetaQuotes recently added native AI agent capabilities and MCP support to MT5, showing growing interest in AI-enabled trading environments.
As AI tools become more closely connected to trading platforms, the gap between market analysis, decision support and trade execution is becoming smaller. Even so, firms continue to stress the need for human oversight and accountability when using AI in trading.
At RHR, we believe AI-powered trading integrations show how quickly trading technology is evolving. While AI may help improve efficiency and accessibility, responsibility for trading decisions remains with the user.
What this means for hiring. This could increase demand for technology and product roles involved in AI integrations, trading platforms and workflow automation. It is also relevant for compliance teams as firms continue to focus on user accountability, oversight and risk management when using AI tools.
