Mintos launches commission-free stock trading

Mintos has launched commission-free trading for more than 4,000 US, European and global stocks.

The Latvia-based investment platform is allowing customers to invest from as little as €1 through fractional shares. It says there are no order fees, custody charges or subscription plans.

One of the platform’s key features is its euro-first approach. Investors can buy and trade US stocks in euros without currency conversion fees. They can also choose between one-off investments or automated recurring investments on a weekly, monthly or quarterly basis.

Mintos was founded in Riga in 2015. It first became known for consumer and business loan investments. Since then, it has expanded its offering to include bonds, ETFs, real estate, crypto exchange-traded products and cash management solutions.

The addition of stock trading means investors can now access a wider range of asset classes through a single account. Mintos says this supports its aim of becoming a broader wealth-building platform.

The move comes as competition grows among European investment platforms. Larger providers already serve millions of investors and manage significant assets. Mintos is aiming to compete by offering access to multiple investment products in one place.

Its initial stock offering includes some of the most actively traded companies across sectors including technology, semiconductors, financial services, healthcare, energy and mining. The company also plans to expand the range of available stocks over time.

Investors should be aware that although stocks can be priced in euros, investments in non-euro assets still carry underlying currency risk.

RHR believes this reflects a wider move towards investment platforms that bring multiple asset classes together in a single service, making it easier for investors to manage different investments in one place.

What this means for hiring. The launch may increase demand for product, technology and platform development roles as Mintos expands its investment offering and stock selection. It is also relevant for financial services and investment professionals as competition between European investment platforms continues to grow.
