Plus500 has agreed a conditional deal to acquire 100% of Brazilian broker-dealer Guru Corretora de Títulos e Valores Mobiliários Ltd.
The deal will be funded entirely from Plus500's cash reserves of more than $860 million. It will give the company direct access to regulatory licences from Brazil's Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) and Central Bank of Brazil (BCB).
The acquisition strengthens Plus500's position in Brazil and gives it a platform to offer more products to local investors. These include equities, futures, options and fixed-income securities.
CEO David Zruia said the deal provides the licences, experienced local team and regulatory base Plus500 needs to accelerate its growth in Brazil.
The acquisition also supports Plus500's wider institutional strategy in South America.
The company recently formed a B2B partnership with Nelogica. This connects Plus500's clearing and execution capabilities with Nelogica's BlackArrow platform.
Alongside its earlier expansion into Colombia, the Guru deal gives Plus500 a deeper presence across the region. It also supports the company's long-term aim of becoming a leading participant in Latin America's growing financial markets.
What RHR thinks
We believe securing local licences and expertise in Brazil gives Plus500 a strong base for long-term growth. It also shows how important regulatory access and strategic partnerships are for companies looking to expand across Latin America's changing financial markets.
What this means for hiring. The deal brings an experienced local team into Plus500 and supports further growth in Brazil, making regulatory and financial services expertise particularly relevant. The wider expansion of its product offering and regional partnerships also points to roles supporting trading products, clearing and execution capabilities.
