Popeyes UK turnover hits record £178m

Popeyes UK has reported record turnover of £178 million for 2025, up 50% year on year.

The result comes as the fast-food business continues to expand across the UK. Popeyes ended the year with 108 restaurants after adding 44 net new locations.

The growth shows how international hospitality brands can still find opportunities in the UK despite rising costs, changing customer habits and increased competition.

Popeyes has also grown quickly in an already crowded market. Competition remains strong in both the chicken and quick-service restaurant sectors. The business has set itself apart through its customer offer, operational efficiency and careful choice of sites.

Expansion is set to continue. Popeyes aims to reach around 150 restaurants across the UK and Republic of Ireland by the end of 2026. Its move into Ireland will mark the next stage of that growth.

The results point to several wider trends for hospitality. Customers are continuing to respond to brands that offer a clear identity, consistent experience and value.

Growing the number of restaurants can also be a strong driver of revenue when businesses have the operations needed to support that expansion.

Convenience remains important too. Drive-thru restaurants, delivery partnerships and different service formats give brands more ways to reach customers and generate sales.

Across the wider UK hospitality market, there is a growing divide. Some operators are investing in new growth while others are concentrating on strengthening their existing businesses.

Brands that can provide a strong customer experience while expanding their operations are continuing to gain market share and attract investment, even when trading conditions are difficult.

What RHR thinks

We believe Popeyes' results show the continued resilience of the quick-service restaurant sector. They also show why the right people, leadership and infrastructure matter when a business is growing quickly. As hospitality operators invest in new openings and new markets, demand for experienced operations leaders, area managers, site leadership teams, property specialists and support professionals is likely to remain strong. We believe the most successful operators will balance expansion with investment in people, culture and strong operations so that growth remains sustainable as competition increases.

What this means for hiring. Popeyes opened 44 restaurants in 2025 and is aiming for around 150 by the end of 2026, including its first in Ireland. That means steady hiring for restaurant managers, area managers and opening teams, in the UK and now in Ireland.
