Time Out to launch its debut London food hall in Piccadilly Circus
Time Out is preparing to launch a major new food hall in Piccadilly Circus, marking the brand’s first market in its home city and positioning the site as the flagship of its global portfolio. The company, which debuted its market concept in Lisbon in 2014, has since expanded across Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia, now operating 13 locations that collectively attract more than 12 million visitors each year.
The London opening comes as competition intensifies, with several food hall operators growing across the capital even as rising costs continue to pressure the hospitality sector.
Time Out Group chief executive Chris Ohlund described the Piccadilly Circus project as a landmark moment for the company, highlighting its partnership with The Crown Estate and the significance of bringing the market concept back to where the brand originated. The business secured the Grade II listed site at 55 Regent Street and plans to open Time Out Market London in summer 2028.
The venue will span 26,400 sq ft and feature a curated mix of 15 restaurants, bars and food businesses. Its development follows a £8.4 million fundraise in 2024 to support the London launch and a second New York market, as well as earlier plans for a Waterloo site that were abandoned during the pandemic.
