Charity partnerships play a vital role in shaping the culture and social impact of the retail sector.
And at RHR they form an essential part of how we support people throughout their careers. Retail is one of the UK’s most accessible and diverse industries, offering opportunities for individuals from every background to build confidence, develop skills and progress into long‑term employment. By working closely with charities and national initiatives, we help remove barriers that prevent people from entering or re‑entering the workplace, while enabling employers to create more inclusive, supportive environments.
Our partnerships also reflect our commitment to responsible recruitment, ensuring that vulnerable groups receive the guidance, advocacy and practical help they need to thrive. Two of our most important collaborations are with the Care Leaver Covenant, which supports young people aged 16 - 25 as they transition from care into independent living and employment, and the Employers Domestic Abuse Covenant (EDAC), which helps women affected by domestic abuse access safe routes back into work.
Through these partnerships, RHR is proud to champion meaningful change across the retail industry and help individuals build brighter, more secure futures.

Care Leaver Covenant
RHR is proud to be a signatory to the Care Leaver Covenant.
The Care Leaver Covenant is a promise made by organisations across the private, public and voluntary sectors to provide support for care leavers aged 16-25 to help them to live independently. A care leaver is a person, aged 16 to 25, who has spent time in care as a child.
It is part of the Government’s Keep on Caring policy to support the 10,000 young people who leave care every year.
Being a care leaver can have many practical impacts on a person's life, including instability in housing, financial difficulties, limited access to education and employment opportunities as well as social isolation.
By signing up the Care Leaver Covenant, we will help employers to ensure care leavers can take advantage of their opportunities and RHR will support care experienced young people to access and navigate the recruitment process.
Jason Ellis, Managing Director of RHR said: “Our message to care leavers is quite simple: you are wanted. Care leavers make some of the best employees – they are adaptable, reliable and above all resilient. Just the kinds of qualities employers want. “We are delighted to work in partnership with the Covenant to bring more fantastic retail opportunities to care experienced young people.”
Matthew Gordon, Chief Executive of Spectra, which delivers the Government’s Care Leaver Covenant programme, said: “We’re delighted to be working with RHR. Over 2,500 opportunities have already been taken up by our young people through the Covenant. RHR will now open up even more jobs to care leavers."

Employers Domestic Abuse Covenant
By signing up to the Covenant, RHR is pledging to work with the Employers Domestic Abuse Covenant (EDAC), a government supported pledge by businesses that enables women affected by abuse to enter or re-enter the workplace.
By signing up to the Covenant, RHR are pledging to work with the EDAC to offer support such as access to employment for women who have been victims of domestic abuse. But also, to raise awareness of domestic abuse within the workplace and encourage meaningful conversations.
Jason Ellis, Managing Director of RHR said: “We are pleased to announce that we have joined the EDAC (Employers Domestic Abuse Covenant) to raise awareness of domestic abuse. Few people realise that one in four women and one in seven men are the victims of domestic abuse, but almost certainly, most of us know someone who is, or has suffered from this at some point. Employers can provide vital help in this area by providing a safe person to talk to and by looking out for the signs.
We hope other employers will join and the aim should be to eliminate this scourge on our society.”
Polly Harrar, Founding Member of EDAC said: "We are delighted to welcome RHR as our latest signatory of the Employers Domestic Abuse Covenant (EDAC). RHR seek to lead the way in how domestic abuse is addressed and we look forward to working together to make a sustainable difference."
