Senior Footwear Technologist

An exciting opportunity has come up for a senior footwear technologist to join a great team and play a key role in bringing footwear products from initial concept through to production.

You’ll work closely with Design, Product Development, Buying, Sourcing and Suppliers to ensure every product meets our standards for fit, construction, quality, performance and commercial viability.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong footwear professional who enjoys solving problems, improving product quality and working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

What You’ll Be Doing
• Own the technical development of footwear ranges from concept through to production.
• Create and maintain accurate technical specifications, construction details and product standards.
• Manage fit sessions, last development and grading to ensure consistent fit and comfort.
• Review and approve samples, identifying technical issues and driving solutions with suppliers.
• Work closely with factories and suppliers to ensure products meet quality, durability and performance requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments and support testing to ensure products meet relevant safety and compliance standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve construction, quality, cost and manufacturing efficiency.
• Troubleshoot technical issues throughout the development and production process.
• Work closely with Designers and Product Developers to ensure technical considerations are incorporated early in the product lifecycle.
• Support and mentor junior technologists, sharing technical knowledge and best practice.
• Maintain strong relationships with international suppliers and manufacturing partners.

What We’re Looking For
• Proven experience in a footwear technology / footwear development role, ideally at Senior level.
• Strong knowledge of footwear construction, materials, components, manufacturing processes and fit.
• Experience working with overseas factories and suppliers.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, solutions-focused approach.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Confident communicator who can build strong relationships across technical and commercial teams.
• Ability to challenge, influence and make informed technical decisions.
• A genuine passion for footwear and delivering products that are both technically excellent and commercially successful.

This is a great role to join an established high street retailer, with a salary up to £51,000.
