It has been revealed that this year, Carnaby shopping district will join forces with the V&A Museum to produce this year’s Christmas installations.

The idea came from the project ‘You Say You Want a Revoution? Records and Rebels 1966-1970’, at the V&A Museum, which can be seen until 26th February and features ‘swinging’ Carnaby Street in 1966.
With this being the biggest Christmas display to date, Carnaby will be celebrating by hosting a Christmas launch party on the 10th November from 5pm – 9pm, which will include an experiential shopping event and lights switch on.

The V&A will also be holding a residency in Carnaby Street which will match the exhibition and hold a retail space that will remain open until January, as well as sell tickets for the exhibition and merchandise, including prints of iconic images from the sixties, psychedelic posters, a colourful silk scarf designed by Beatles illustrator Alan Aldridge, and limited edition Levi’s jeans.

Director of Shaftesbury, Simon Quayle, said: “We are delighted to announce this prestigious partnership with the V&A. The major exhibition is a perfect synergy for us as it celebrates Carnaby’s rich heritage and stamp as a London icon. The Christmas installations are original, fun and a great signature for London.”
