NinjaTrader has introduced a new Innovation Lab
NinjaTrader has introduced a new Innovation Lab dedicated to advancing artificial intelligence within the futures trading ecosystem. The initiative marks a strategic push to build AI‑native tools that enhance how traders develop strategies, analyse performance and interact with market data. Its first releases :Nina, AI Strategy Builder and an MCP server, signal a clear commitment to embedding AI directly into trading infrastructure rather than treating it as an add‑on.
The company’s focus aligns with broader industry momentum. Platforms such as MetaTrader 5 and FundedNext have recently rolled out AI‑enabled testing and MCP‑based workflows, while NinjaTrader’s own survey of 1,500 active traders found that strategy development and skill building are the areas where users expect the greatest benefit from AI. Brian Weis, appointed Chief Innovation and AI Officer in July, emphasised that the intersection of AI and trading infrastructure is where the most meaningful progress is happening.
NinjaTrader’s MCP integration allows AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude to access trading context: positions, account rules, market signals, economic events and more. This creates new possibilities for pre‑trade risk sizing, trade analysis and post‑trade reviews. Nina, the platform’s built-in AI companion, goes a step further by analysing account behaviour to surface trading patterns, highlight strengths and weaknesses, and suggest risk settings tailored to each trader’s activity.
For traders with limited coding experience, AI Strategy Builder converts plain language instructions into compiled, testable strategies. Users can refine their logic conversationally, with the system regenerating and compiling updates on the fly. CEO Martin Franchi said the Innovation Lab will accelerate NinjaTrader’s “big bets” in trading innovation, a clear signal that AI‑driven tooling is becoming central to how modern trading platforms evolve.
