XTB is taking further steps to grow beyond its traditional contracts for difference (CFD) business.
The company has received approval from Poland’s Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) to offer discretionary portfolio management services. This means XTB can manage investments on behalf of clients within agreed investment mandates.
The move strengthens the firm's wealth and investment management offer and broadens the services available to customers. It is also part of a wider effort to build a more varied business and reduce reliance on a single product area.
At the same time, XTB has expanded its spot cryptocurrency service into Spain. Customers there can now buy and hold more than 40 digital assets directly rather than accessing them through CFDs.
Spain becomes the latest market for XTB’s spot crypto offering, joining Chile and Cyprus. The expansion reflects the company’s wider focus on long-term investment products and comes as more investors look for direct ownership options alongside traditional trading products.
Although CFDs still generate most of XTB’s revenue, the business is working to diversify its income streams. The company has a growing customer base, with nearly 1.5 million active accounts, as well as significant client holdings in stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
Industry observers see the regulatory approval for portfolio management as an important long-term development. They believe it could help XTB build stronger relationships with customers, encourage greater use of its services and support a more balanced mix of revenue over time.
Together, the launch of portfolio management services and the expansion of spot crypto products show how XTB is broadening its offering as it looks to support future growth.
What RHR thinks
We believe XTB’s latest initiatives show a clear move towards building a broader investment ecosystem. Portfolio management and spot cryptocurrency services are likely to become increasingly important parts of the business. These products can help diversify revenue streams while also strengthening the long-term value offered to clients.
What this means for hiring. Expanding portfolio management and investment services could create demand for investment, wealth management and specialist head office roles. Growth in crypto and long-term investment products may also support hiring across product, compliance and customer support functions.
