Burberry is set to close 38 of its worldwide stores as part of plans for the brand to move more ‘upmarket’.

The move will see the brands store portfolio cut by 10%.

This comes as part of plans to transform the brands flagship stores into luxury destinations for wealthy shoppers.

The stores affected by the closures are yet to be announced, but according to The Guardian, five stores have already closed in Spain and Brazil.

Burberry CEO Marco Gobbetti has bought in Italian fashion designer, Riccardo Tisci as part of the brands long promised turnaround.
