Sainsbury’s will donate £3 million to fight food poverty this Christmas as it looks to help people in need during the cost-of-living crisis.

As part of this, the supermarket has launched the Nourish the Nation campaign with longstanding charity partner Comic Relief in which it will encourage customers to donate. Sainsburys will then match donations up to £1.5 million.

It will also donate a further £1.5 million to key food distribution networks through Comic Relief’s On the Breadline Winter cost-of-living Christmas appeal. Sainsbury’s said £500,000 of the funds will be going to its long-term partner FareShare,
