Spotex Extends Its Execution Platform Through BitGo’s Institutional Custody and Settlement Network

Spotex has linked its institutional trading venue with BitGo’s custody, settlement and prime brokerage stack, creating a streamlined way for modern institutional teams to tap into digital asset liquidity. The connection allows eligible clients to trade on Spotex while keeping their assets secured in BitGo’s regulated custody. For brokers, funds and asset managers, the value is in the clean separation: execution happens on one track, while custody and settlement stay protected on another, reducing operational noise.

With this setup, Spotex focuses solely on execution through its ECN and doesn’t take the other side of client trades. BitGo manages the custody, prime services and settlement workflow, including clearing and post‑trade movement between clients and liquidity providers. Using BitGo’s Go Network, institutions can trade directly with assets already held in custody, avoiding the hassle of pre‑funding the venue or constantly shifting assets between counterparties. It’s a smoother, more intuitive process that aligns with the expectations of a younger, tech‑native generation of finance professionals.

Instead of building its own custody framework, Spotex is joining the broader ecosystem BitGo already supports. BitGo provides similar infrastructure for platforms like Hyperliquid, Virtu’s connection to BitGo Prime’s liquidity network, and off‑exchange settlement through the Go Network.

In each case, BitGo supplies the institutional backbone custody, settlement and prime services, while the venue focuses on market access. Spotex notes that the partnership isn’t exclusive, keeping its architecture custodian‑agnostic so it can add more providers as its digital asset offering grows.

This integration follows Spotex’s recent hire of Joe Tuccio as Head of Digital Assets, signalling a push to expand its institutional crypto business. BitGo’s Adam Sporn highlighted that institutions want more flexibility in how they execute trades without adding complexity across custody, credit and settlement. For Spotex, the connection delivers live custody access without locking into a single provider. For BitGo, it adds another execution venue to its expanding institutional settlement network.
