Virtu Financial reported a strong third quarter, with sharp increases in both revenue and profit as trading activity remained high.
For the three months ending 30 September 2026, total revenue rose nearly 40% year on year to $1.15 billion. Consolidated net income increased almost 90% to $282.5 million. The company also improved its profitability, with its GAAP net income margin rising to 24.5% from 18.1% a year earlier. Net income attributable to common shareholders reached $153.3 million after non-controlling interests were taken into account.
The main driver of growth was Virtu's Market Making division. Revenue in the business increased 47.7% to $986.8 million. Adjusted net trading income rose 68.2% to $578.8 million, reflecting stronger market volumes and volatility.
Execution Services delivered more modest growth. Revenue increased 5.5% to $163.0 million, while adjusted net trading income rose 1.8% to $125.2 million.
Across the wider business, adjusted net trading income grew 50.7% to $704.0 million. Adjusted EBITDA increased 63.5% to $437.9 million. The adjusted EBITDA margin improved to 62.2%, up from 57.3% in the same period last year.
Alongside its financial results, Virtu announced plans to move its legal domicile from Delaware to Texas. The change represents a notable shift in corporate governance as the company continues to position itself for future growth.
What RHR thinks
We believe Virtu’s latest results show how profitable market-making businesses can be when trading activity is high. Growing margins, stronger profitability and the planned corporate restructuring all point to continued confidence in the firm’s long-term direction.
What this means for hiring. Strong growth in Virtu’s Market Making business could support demand for trading, quantitative, technology and market structure roles. Continued expansion and the company’s move from Delaware to Texas may also create opportunities in corporate governance, legal and operations functions.
