Waitrose expecting its biggest ever Christmas for rosé wine
Waitrose is expecting to have its biggest ever Christmas for rosé wine with sales set to outperform all previous years by at least 50%. Waitrose has revealed that sales of the product are up 43% in the year to date.
The supermarket said customers increasingly chose rosé throughout the first summer lockdown and that its popularity continued into the autumn.
Becky Hull, Waitrose wine buyer said: “I’m expecting sales of rosé to be bigger than we’ve ever seen at Christmas before and up 50% at least on last year. Rosé is the perfect drink for Christmas because it matches brilliantly with food, is refreshing but also has a surprising amount of flavour for such a delicate-looking wine.”
