Assistant Technologist
We’re currently looking for an Assistant Technologist to join our Food Safety and Technical Buying team in Knightsbridge.
About the Role
As an Assistant Technologist, you’ll support the Technical Manager to ensure the consistent delivery of safe, legal, and exceptional quality Harrods Own Label products. You'll work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to drive technical compliance, sustainability, and product quality while maintaining the integrity of the Harrods brand.
Key responsibilities include:
Assisting in the approval and management of suppliers, ensuring alignment with Harrods Food Safety and Quality Management Systems
Supporting technical aspects of new product development, including HACCPs and specification compliance
Verifying the legal compliance of product labels and ensuring accurate technical documentation
Aiding in the investigation and resolution of product safety and quality issues
Contributing to supplier audits and visits to maintain high standards and build technical capability
About You
You will be a proactive and detail-oriented individual with a passion for food quality and safety. With a strong foundation in food science and technical systems, you're eager to grow within a high-performing team and contribute to world-class standards in product excellence and supplier partnerships. You’ll be confident communicating across functions and diligent in ensuring legal and brand compliance at every stage of product development.
You will need:
A degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field
Working knowledge of food safety management systems, HACCP, and supplier auditing
Excellent time management and self-motivation skills
Depending on your role, you may be fully on-site or have a mix of on-site and home working – this is what we refer to as ‘Hybrid’. Our hybrid working policy allows colleagues to work from home for part of the week, with a minimum of three days on-site, depending on business needs.
