Engineering & Energy Programme Manager
As an Engineering & Energy Programme Manager, you’ll lead some of the most complex and high‑impact programmes across our UK and international estate. You’ll bring teams together across Property, Engineering, Maintenance and our global business to deliver projects that keep our stores and distribution centres safe, efficient and future‑ready.
You’ll be the expert in your field—often the first layer of management for people or projects—and you’ll balance exceptional delivery for customers with the long‑term needs of the business. Your work will shape how we innovate, reduce carbon, and maintain high standards across the Group. Collaborating and ensuring all teams understand and adhere to our assurance protocols, KPI’s and managing assurance reporting.
The Hiring Manager for this role is Matthew Reeves-Smith.
You will be responsible for:
Leading the planning and delivery of multiple complex, large scale engineering projects across departments and countries, ensuring delivery to agreed timelines and budgets.
Working closely with the Engineering leadership team to track, report and communicate progress on key programmes.
Driving collaboration across Engineering teams globally to share knowledge, promote innovation and track new ideas.
Supporting delivery of carbon reduction goals, including F gas reporting and gas decarbonisation initiatives across the UK business.
Aligning engineering standards, approaches and procurement strategies across both UK and international markets.
Acting as custodian of our equipment and installation assurance documents, setting and maintaining high standards across all engineering areas.
Defining project specific assurance strategies and ensuring key projects are assured, recorded and delivered to the agreed standards.
Working collaboratively with Engineering and Maintenance colleagues to ensure smooth project handover, timely issue resolution and complete documentation.
Overseeing engineering snags and holding delivery teams across UK Property to account for closing them within defined timescales.
Leading a team of Assurance Managers, maintaining high performance levels and ensuring adherence to assurance protocols, KPIs and reporting requirements.
Managing complex programmes across UK Property and the wider Group, ensuring teams are aligned and delivering against shared goals.
You will need:
A strong track record of achievement in a fast moving, 24/7 operational environment, ideally within installation or engineering delivery.
Experience in complex programme management, installation processes and assurance frameworks.
Experience managing technical teams and influencing cross functional groups.
Strong technical knowledge of equipment and installation standards across the Tesco estate.
The ability to energise teams, build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
A continuous improvement mindset, always looking for ways to simplify, innovate and deliver better outcomes.
Confidence balancing customer needs, operational priorities and long term business goals.
