Finance Business Partner – Avayler (FTC 9-12 months)
About us
Halfords is on a journey - building the future of motoring and cycling and looking for people who want to help shape what comes next. We’re a place for co‑creators: people who want to make a real impact, take ownership and be part of something that’s still evolving.
As the UK’s leading retailer of motoring and cycling products, we’re supported by one of the country’s largest independent vehicle servicing, maintenance and repair networks through Halfords Autocentres. This breadth gives us a strong, stable foundation - and the freedom to keep innovating and growing.
That means real variety for our colleagues, along with the opportunity to learn, stretch and develop as the business moves forward. Whatever your role, you’ll be part of a team focused on delivering exceptional service - using your expertise to solve problems, guide customers and help keep the nation moving with confidence.
About the role
Avayler is Halfords’ SaaS business - a market‑leading field service management platform built to help organisations deliver complex services through an end‑to‑end digital solution. We’re looking for a Finance Business Partner to provide finance partnering support across Avayler - delivering high‑quality insight, robust reporting, and constructive commercial challenge to help enable and optimise delivery of the Avayler strategy.
This is a brilliant opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys working closely with senior stakeholders, thrives in a changing environment, and wants to have real influence in a growing SaaS business.
Key responsibilities
Partner closely with Avayler leaders and managers as their trusted Finance advisor, building strong relationships and providing insight, challenge, and commercial guidance to support strategic decision‑making.
Own and deliver budgeting, forecasting, and planning for Avayler, working in alignment with FP&A and translating numbers into a clear story around performance drivers, risks, and opportunities.
Provide clear visibility of financial performance, owning rolling P&L outturn reporting and proactively identifying risks and opportunities as the business evolves.
Shape and support business cases and investment decisions, challenging assumptions, quantifying value, and guiding stakeholders through governance and approval processes.
Collaborate with Management Accounting, Financial Reporting, and Shared Services to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely financial delivery.
Design and embed meaningful KPIs and performance reporting, combining financial and non‑financial measures to support operational and strategic decision‑making.
Work collaboratively across Avayler and Group Functions to optimise processes, make best use of shared resource, and improve outcomes.
Drive continuous improvement, simplifying ways of working and leveraging systems, automation, and insight to increase efficiency and impact.
About you
A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with a strong track record finance business partnering roles.
Commercially minded, with the ability to translate business objectives into financial insight and focus activity where it delivers the greatest value.
Confident building trusted relationships across the business, influencing stakeholders through collaboration rather than control.
A dynamic, outcome‑driven self‑starter who brings energy, flexibility, and commitment to a fast‑moving environment.
An excellent communicator, able to clearly articulate complex financial messages to both finance and non‑finance audiences.
Highly capable in Excel and financial modelling, with experience in commercial, cross‑functional environments (SaaS or software experience an advantage).
Reward & benefits
A fair and competitive salary evaluated against market data, car allowance, annual discretionary bonus scheme, pension, life assurance, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and enhanced family leave.
Commitment and dedication to your ongoing personal and professional development. We help you to own and grow your potential so you can be at your best in your current role and to support your future career aspirations.
You will have access to a wealth of employee discounts across the Halfords suite of products and services.
Wellbeing and inclusion are at the heart of our colleague experience. We offer resources and ongoing support to enhance your wellbeing at work and active Colleague Networks supporting inclusion initiatives across Halfords.
Not sure you meet all the criteria? We'd encourage you to take the wheel and apply anyway! At Halfords we are committed to creating an inclusive workplace for our colleagues. We're an equal opportunities employer and proud to welcome applications from all backgrounds and embrace diversity within our one Halfords Family.
At Halfords, we operate a hybrid working policy with 2 days on site at our Support Centre in Redditch.
