About the role
From transforming how we engage, grow and develop our people, to driving cultural change and supporting major business initiatives, there’s a lot of exciting change on the horizon at Halfords. This isn’t business as usual HR, it’s a strategic, high-impact role where you’ll work in true partnership with senior leaders across our Support Centre and the wider Group.
You’ll be at the heart of shaping and delivering People Plans that align with our business priorities, influencing Executives, Directors and Heads of Function, while collaborating with our HR Centres of Expertise to bring innovative solutions to life.

Key responsibilities
Work closely with Executives, Directors and senior leaders to shape people strategies that drive business priorities, offering coaching and guidance at the highest level.
Optimise structures for agility and growth while leading change management to ensure smooth transitions and clear, effective communication.
Drive programmes that build leadership capability, support succession planning, and nurture future talent for critical roles.
Champion a high-performance culture through talent management, while leading initiatives to boost engagement and retention.
Harness people analytics to identify trends, measure impact and provide evidence-based recommendations to influence strategic decisions.
Act as a trusted advisor and critical friend to senior leaders, constructively challenging to ensure alignment with values, culture and long-term goals.
Partner with Centres of Expertise across Resourcing, Reward, Talent Development, and ED&I to deliver joined-up, innovative people solutions.
Play a pivotal role in shaping the Halfords culture, supporting major business initiatives, and redefining how HR drives change in a fast-moving, customer-first business.
About you
Significant experience in a senior people partnering role, with a strong track record of influencing at Board or Executive level.
Able to translate business goals into impactful people strategies that drive performance and growth.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the confidence to challenge and act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders.
Strong business acumen, with the ability to connect people initiatives to commercial outcomes and manage associated budgets.
Skilled in using people analytics and metrics to shape strategy, provide insights, and measure success.
In-depth understanding of employment law and HR best practice, with CIPD qualification (or equivalent experience) preferred

We offer hybrid working in our Support Centre, you will be based at our Support Centre 3 days a week with an optional 2 days working from home.

At Halfords, we operate a hybrid working policy with 3 days on site at our Support Centre in Redditch, Worcestershire.
