About the role

At Halfords, our Commercial Planning team spans Retail, Garages and Mobile, driving smarter decisions through data and advanced analytics.

As our Group Promotions Analyst, you’ll play a central role in shaping our promotional strategy. You’ll use advanced analytics to evaluate past campaigns, model the impact of future promotions, and provide data-led recommendations that improve performance from both a commercial and customer perspective. You’ll also support the nomination process and help shape the sign-off of promotional activity, ensuring every campaign delivers maximum value.

Key responsibilities

Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to analyse past promotions to evaluate effectiveness, including sales uplift, margin impact, and customer response.
Monitor live promotions daily, providing insights to the Group Promotions Manager and Customer & Commercial teams to maximise profitability and address underperforming offers.
Track core promotional KPIs and headline metrics, such as participation, average transaction value, items per order, net margin impact.
Analyse Halfords Motoring Club loyalty customer promotions & behaviours to identify opportunities to optimise sales.
Support regular post-implementation reviews to assess campaign performance.
Provide day to day analytical support to the team on projects, queries or any other matters that may arise.
Support trading & supply teams with product forecasts, utilising analytical techniques.
Monitor and analyse competitor promotional activity to identify trends and opportunities, providing recommendations to the Group Promotions Manager and Customer & Commercial teams.
Be a key ambassador in driving Promotional Governance, ensuring that all promotional activity is endorsed & approved at the right level, at the right time, and for the right strategic reasons.
Collaborate with various departments across the group to ensure the smooth launch of promotional activity, escalating issues to the Group Promotions Manager.

About you

Proficient in analytics tools – SQL, Excel, dashboarding & visualisation
Experience in Power BI, Databricks
Experience in coding -PySpark, Python is high desirable
Ability to confidently present insight to non-technical audiences
Good attention to detail and takes responsibility for the accuracy of their work
Track record of initiating and implementing change, backed by data driven insights
Strong financial acumen
