Selfridges requires a highly experienced Procurement and Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) professional with a proven track record in several spend areas and a deep understanding of best practice processes in Procurement and Supplier Relationship Management to manage its GNFR spend.

The Senior Procurement Manager will work closely with business stakeholders across their focus spend areas, to deliver best value through savings, innovation or performance. They will ensure communication to internal stakeholders of key terms and risks to support decision making and escalation where necessary becoming their single point of contact for all matters relating to supplier spend and performance. The Senior Procurement Manager will carry out a proactive review of contracts and spends along with business stakeholders to identify opportunities to add value and manage risks; including challenging the status quo. This will enable the development of sound strategic and tactical commercial plans. They will conduct effective contractual negotiations and leading the sourcing process for spend requirements, including market review and identifying new suppliers. The Senior Procurement Manager will identify and deliver real/demonstrable cost savings, enhanced service, and mitigated risk. They will ensure compliance with legal and corporate policy and governance, including ensuring that ESG and Data considerations are appropriately managed. The Senior Procurement Manager will get involved in initiatives to develop processes, systems, governance and capabilities of the Procurement team taking time to support and develop their own team and share knowledge with other team members. The Senior Procurement Manager will also be required to develop and deliver RFx’s, Benchmarking, and formal Supplier Relationship/performance management activities as required as will as ensuring their teams carry out their procurement activities, setting targets and managing the team on a day to day basis. They will have a proficient knowledge and understanding of supplier authored contracts (both commercially and legally), with the ability to confidently negotiate and arrive at fair and reasonable outcomes with minimum support from internal legal teams.

Role Responsibilities

Implement the Procurement strategy for the required focus areas to meet business requirements, this must align with the overall Procurement Strategy to establish a business partnership model across the functions
Creation and delivery of Procurement strategies and targets for the focus areas
To support the Head of Procurement on the implementation and development of procurement policies and system strategies
Conducting tendering, contract management, spend analytics and supplier performance management for your own strategic spend areas and support your team in delivering the same.
Engagement with all required Selfridges functions to ensure that all contracts have suitable cover and protection, meet the requirements of the business and deliver expected value
Implementation and streamlining of processes across the business to ensure activity is adding value, and underpinning compliance and controls.
Identification and realisation and reporting of cost-saving and waste-reduction opportunities, including managing demand to identify cost actions
Managing your team to deliver an effective service to the business
Supporting the Head of Procurement to ensure companywide purchasing requirements and contract management solutions for all areas are managed in a clear concise manner, which demonstrate financial and operational benefits and value.
Conduct/support senior level negotiations and implement appropriate tactics to achieve a favourable outcome
Commission, execute and deliver, high level procurement projects to agreed timelines and objectives
Responsible for conducting and leading regular reviews of the spend categories through benchmarking, rationalisation and aggregation opportunities
Define and Implement the Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) strategy for key suppliers including string Service Level Agreements with consequences for non performance. This should be facilitated by working with the business owners to define and agree appropriate supplier performance measures. Ensuring you agree and implement appropriate meeting schedules for Selfridges and the Suppliers

Customer Interaction

Identify, develop and expand relationships with key stakeholders to meet business needs
Where appropriate agree a formal engagement plan with key stakeholders to ensure that procurement is at the heart of the business decision making process
Provide a point of escalation for key contacts to ensure your focus areas are meeting the timelines and targets agreed with the business
Provide a single point of contact for customers on all procurement related matters becoming the trusted advisor for the category
Train and educate customers on the procurement process and policy to increase and maintain adoption

Team Support

Responsible for creating and leading a high performing Procurement team, to ensure delivery of effective service across the whole business
Effectively manage your team’s workload to deliver against deadlines, adopting an agile approach working with the Head of Procurement to ensure the most impactful opportunities are delivered no matter which spend area they sit in
Encourage and motivate team members to 'work as one' on procurement activity, to deliver a seamless service to internal customers
Ensuring adherence of departmental and company procurement procedures and policies
Effectively manage the relationship with the Finance team on budgets, cost saving, consumption and spend reduction targets/reports
Ensure that your team expertise is created/trained and maintained

Proven track record of delivery in Procurement in retail or a similar fast paced service environment.
Experience to cover several areas of spend
Proven track record of Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)

Technical Skills

Excellent negotiator
Deep understanding of Procurement and Supplier Relationship Management best practice
Essential deep knowledge of Microsoft MS Excel and other MS Office applications (i.e. Word, PowerPoint)
Creating and managing complex tender and benchmarking exercises
Able to create appropriate commercial models to suit requirements in the category
Experienced in drafting and interpretation of contracts and clauses, in depth understanding of Contracts
CIPS an advantage
