Kingfisher has welcomed John Colley back into the fold after seven years, appointing him as its group trading director.

Colley had served as commercial director for Kingfisher fascias B&Q and Screwfix before he left the company to become the chief operating officer of Maxeda DIY Group based in the Netherlands and then managing director at Majestic Wine.

During his time with the UK-based alcohol retailer, Colley rebuilt its senior leadership team, improved customer service and shopper loyalty, and rolled out click-and-collect and next-day delivery offerings.

After Majestic Wine, he took on the role of chief executive officer at Hobbycraft – a role he held for only two months before his sudden resignation last September.

Now back at Kingfisher, Colley will work on helping the business deliver one consistent proposition across its markets and support local trading teams in creating their trading plans.

He will report directly to chief executive Véronique Laury
