Discount retailer Aldi has announced plans to open more than 70 new stores in the UK.
The new stores will recruit almost 5,000 staff this year, including roles for 150 store managers and 300 assistant store managers. The discounter will also recruit 4,500 full time and part time staff for the stores.
The openings will increase the number of stores in Aldi’s UK portfolio to over 600, ramping up its competition to take on the established “Big Four” supermarkets.
Ruth Doyle, Aldi regional managing director, said: “Aldi has seen rapid growth in recent years and with more store openings planned it’s important that we attract the right candidates for the store management roles.
“Aldi provides its store managers with extensive training to ensure they have the necessary skills to make a real success of their careers.”
