Amazon is set to create 2,000 new jobs in the UK 2019. This will take its total UK workforce to 29,500.
The positions being hired will include engineers, software developers, data scientists, and cloud and machine learning experts. There will also be some entry-level positions.
More than 170 of the new jobs will be at Amazon’s development centres in Cambridge, Edinburgh and London.
The Cambridge teams help to develop the knowledge software that powers Amazons Alexa.
Edinburgh focuses on developing Amazon’s advertising technology. The Edinburgh team has recently spoken about how they have used deep learning technology to reinvent personalised shopping recommendations.
The London team employs software engineers and computer programmers, focusing on Amazon Video.
Doug Gurr, Amazon UK country manager, said: “We are delighted to be able continue to invest and grow our UK business. The UK is a fantastic hub for global talent and the exciting, innovative work that takes place here benefits Amazon’s customers around the world.”
