A US Supreme Court has rejected a case brought by staff at an Amazon warehouse in Nevada who claimed they have to wait as long as 25 minutes for required security checks before or after their shifts, for which they aren't paid.
According to US law, companies are not obliged to pay their employees for time that is unrelated to their main job. Justice Clarence Thomas said: "Integrity Staffing did not employ its workers to undergo security screenings, but to retrieve products from warehouse shelves and package those products for shipment to Amazon customers."
The court rejected the workers' claim in a unanimous decision.
