Apple has unveiled two new handsets: the top-end iPhone 5S and for the first time a cheaper iPhone 5C at a launch event in California.
The move marks a change in strategy for the firm, which hasn’t yet launched a product to cater to the ‘lower end’ of the market. The 5C is far from being a budget product, however, being priced at £469 Sim-free compared to the 5S which will be up to £709 for a 64GB model.
The headline feature of the new 5S is a fingerprint sensor built into the phone's main button to identify the user, unlock the 5S and authorise purchases from Apple's online marketplace.
The new iPhones go on sale in the US, UK, China, Australia and Canada among other countries on September 20th.
