A report from International Labour Organisation (ILO) has revealed that the annual average income in Asia has risen 6% in comparison to a global average growth of 2% in 2013, with China’s wages rising the fastest, up 9%.

Despite the rise in wages in Asia it has been reported that "one third of the region's workers remain unable to lift themselves and their families above the international poverty threshold of $2 per day".

The global financial crisis on wage growth still continues, which is mirrored in the developed world with countries such as the UK, Italy and Japan are also earning less than they did in 2007.
