Sir Philip Green is reportedly in talks to expand the trial of including food departments in his BHS stores after a successful pilot at an Essex branch.
Sir Philip said that since opening a food department in its Romford branch last week, sales across all other merchandise in the store had seen a strong double digit rise.
The trial at the Essex store followed similar departments in Stains and Warrington, carrying products from cash and carry chain Booker.
Sir Philip confirmed that his firm was in talks with “a couple of retailers” about using the space for food retail including fresh, frozen, chilled and groceries.
